If you’ve noticed that the hue of your Winged Balance tinctures have shifted from clear to a rosy pink, fear not! Pink oil does not mean the product has spoiled or that it is unsafe to use.
This color change is a totally normal organic reaction, and the science behind why this happens is actually pretty dang interesting.
Products that contain the cannabinoid, CBD, also contain other oils to make metabolization by the body easier. Our Balance tinctures specifically contain coconut oil.
Coconut oil contains polyphenol oxidase, a naturally-occurring enzyme that is also an antioxidant. When these polyphenols are exposed to light and oxygen, the pink shade you may see in your oil begins to develop.
Have you ever cut an apple in the morning to prepare for lunch, and then have the apple be slightly brown before noon? Apples contain the same enzyme, and so this is a super similar reaction. Both reactions are totally natural and safe. (And slightly brown apples really don’t taste any different!)
The good news is that this reaction does not alter the product’s ingredients’ efficacy or integrity at all. A CBD product turning pink is actually a good sign; this reaction means that the oil is of very high quality. Low-quality oils don’t change in color.
So, if your CBD products are looking a little pink, there’s no reason to be alarmed, Winged Women! It’s a totally natural phenomenon, and you can continue to enjoy all of the many benefits of CBD worry-free.
